Monte Barbaria

Monte Barbaria

Nearly everyday I get a view of the tops of these mountains and after a few weeks of good snow fall and the need to get in some small hikes before heading up to the Dolomites I finally got a break in the weather and a chance to head up there.

What I thought to be a relatively easy hike turned out to be the complete opposite, with the track a lot steeper than envisioned and with parts a little icy and some nearly a meter deep in snow it took well over an hour to hike the 2km to the top but I clearly must of forgot how hard it was as I returned a couple of days later to do it all again.

The days offered a great contrast in conditions with the first bring high cloud and stormy skies on the horizon and the second day having low cloud below the peaks and clear skies above and a breeze that made it feel about -10 degrees.
